Suggestions on organizing my documents to make them available to the RSS feed?

I knew there would be a downside to putting all my Ditto calls in the content of the pages. The Ditto RSS feed just sees the calls and not the output.

Maybe I’m not using the Ditto RSS thing correctly, but it seems that it looks at only one page/category and publishes everything under it. I can’t seem to make it work to look under all my current category pages. This would be fine if I had a mostly static site with a blog section, but my whole site is blog-like, with Ditto calls all over the place.

I want every article I write to be included in the RSS feed. Right now I have them all nicely organized by category. Of course, I could move all the categories under an "RSS" category, but then the RSS would pick up the category pages. I don’t want that. I make new categories all the time.

I guess I could duplicate every single article and put them in a "RSS" category, but then I have duplicates, which search engines seem to frown upon and It would be a pain to duplicate every single thing I write.

Anyone have any suggestions? They would be greatly appreciated.

Check the &parents and &hidefolders parameters; there are others that also may be useful in this circumstance.

Thanks for the reply. I tried the Ditto call with &parents like so:

But I get no results when I do that. If I change the &parents to startID=`n`, it works and I get everything under n. But using &parents here does not seem to work for some reason. I use it in other places no problem, so I must be doing something wrong.

If I can’t get that to work, I’ll try the hideFolders and move everything under one category. Unless there is something like Wayfinder’s excludeDocs in Ditto? Or a way to include only documents with a specific TV?

Could you post a screenshot of your expanded folder tree (the lefthand pane of the manager)? Also, what version of Ditto are you using?

I think I’ve figured it out. I guess using the &parents parameter requires the &depth parameter. It’s working now that I’ve added that. And using hideFolders, I’ve got the RSS feed set up the way I want it.
