List tags as links on standard pages

Hi there,

I have my ditto with tagging working quite well at http://hol.net.nz/blog, however I’d like to also have the Tags list appear on my full post just like it does on the summary. I’m a bit confused as to how to do this though, as the full post is pretty much a standard template, not a ditto call.

Anyone have any ideas?

You could:

1) have a Ditto call on each page to display the [+taglinks+] placeholder.

2) use the tagLinks snippet, I think it does what you want but I have not use it yet (so let us know if it works ).

#2 is both the best and most used option.

Is there a way to have the tagLinks snippet use the same page as the "&tagDocumentID=" in the ditto call?

Most articles on my site cover different topics. I can’t set up a category page for every tag. I’d have hundreds. That’s what it looks like I’d have to do, reading the tagLinks documentation.

Or am I missing something?

Not sure but the problem could be your TV. Is the output widget set to Delimited list with a valid delimiter? Try setting the delimiter to | and then change your call to include this modification &delimeter=`|` and it should work (in theory, I have not used tagLinks snippet yet).

I didn’t have my output widget set at all. I tried it with my TV set to delimited list, with a comma as a delimiter. I then changed the tv content of my test page to be tag1,tag2,tag3 and I’m still getting "Filed under: Array" as before.

Could somebody please post an example call of how to do this?
This works when the current page ID is 60:

...but I can’t see how I can automatically compute the ID of "60". I tried using documents=`[*id*]` but that gives an SQL error.

So, how can I tell ditto that the page I want it to use is the current one?

OK, my problem was that my ditto call was in a chunk, and I was calling it cached, i.e. [[ditto...
Changing it to uncached, i.e. [!ditto... fixed the problem.

To clarify what I’m doing, I have a chunk called "blogfooter" which I am using to output the current page author name, date / time of publishing and then I’m using ditto to output the current tags via [+tagLinks+]. In other words, I’m not using ditto for any other data, just the tags.

This footer should only appear at the bottom of blog posts, my site as a whole has plenty of pages that are nothing to do with the blog.

So, I currently need to remember to write {{blogfooter}} at the bottom of each blog post, but I’m thinking I can probably automate this by using a template variable at the parent level of the blog folder.

Is the above a reasonable way of doing things do you think?
