Category Tagging with Ditto2

Hello,

I will be implementing category tagging in a MODx blog using the following Wiki tutorial: http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/Category_Tagging_with_Ditto

This tutorial mentions that "Ditto 2 even provides a specific tagging module and dedicated parameters," but I can’t see to find a tutorial that outlines category tagging for Ditto2. The tutorial continues with specific mention to Ditto1.

Does anyone know if there’s documentation for category tagging using Ditto2?

Also the demo site has tagging enabled in ditto2 so it helps to understand as well, but the video shows the more complete solution. One great think is that you can you can assign any document variable as a source for the tags making it very flexible with some creativity.

Hello Again (and Happy New Year!),

I have almost been able to fully implement category tagging using in a blog that’s in production. My only remaining issue is I’m trying to set it up so when you click on a tag, you are brought to a results page that includes articles with that tag(s). Currently the results page is set up and working, but the results still return all articles, not just the articles that have that specific tag(s).

This is the contents of my "Tag Landing" page: [!Ditto? &startID=`24` &summarize=`10` &total=`20` &tagData=`Tags` &tagDelimiter=`, ` &tpl=`BlogTemplate` &tagDocumentID=`32` !] which uses the main blog template (24)

And

This is the contents of the "blog" page: [!Ditto? &startID=`24` &summarize=`10` &total=`20` &tagData=`Tags` &tagDelimiter=`, ` &tpl=`BlogTemplate` &tagDocumentID=`32` !]

Any advice on how to get this working is appreciated!

Use the tagLinks placeholder where you want the tag links to show.

[+tagLinks+] in which Ditto will place a clickable list of the tags it finds for each document. ("Nice ‘n beautiful tag list with links pointing to tagDocumentID")

If I’m understanding you correctly, I’ve already accomplished that as my tags are showing up neatly underneath the author’s name and the date of each post. It’s the results I get when clicking on a tag that I’m having an issue with. The results return all the articles, not just the ones that are tagged with that specific word.

I see. The problem is that your URL has & instead of the simple & and this is breaking the filter.

I think that you need to disable the xHTML URL feature in the site settings.

Change this:


to this:

q=blog&tags=Bistro&start=0

Just a reminder, the bug that causes the erroneous &amp in the URL was fixed in Ditto 2.0.3 and 2.1b3.
