The StyleMaster CSS editor software from westciv.com is a pretty cheap CSS editor that allows you to hand code or if you prefer, choose CSS formatting via menu options.
I linked this software directly to the CSS file stored n MODx (handy when I need a specific colour) and have almost got it displaying a page from your MOdx site in the StyleMaster software so as you make CSS edits, you can see how they look and when your finished, just save CSS. It seems a lot easier than having to edit the CSS files either in Modx by hand or downloading, changing and FTPing back.
Once I have finished would anybody find the instructions of value ?

I use FF to do that on the fly by using the webdevelopers plugin and copy paste css back in modx document text/css works like a charm.

Dimmy,
I guess I was thinking it would be nice not to have to cut and paste. I wanted to
1. See changes made to CSS rules applied to the design template on the fly
2. Be able to choose colours for use in CSS rules straight from an image
3. Occassionaly use the built-in CSS formatting rules and check which browsers support it when I cannot remember exactly how to hand code /wahts supported
Can I do this in Web Developer ?

split-view in stylemaster window, choose preview-document from bottom of the window and enter the url of the template to be styled by the open css, only problem is that the template is saved in the DataBase and does not exist as a standard file (url) in ModX... still there’s a copy of it in assets/cache and you can link to that one!
Does not work for me so far because of access permissions

Topstyle Lite 3.10 from www.Bradsoft.com
Been using the free version for about a year. I’m sure it’s probably just as good as some others, but worth a look anyway. They also have a full-blown version as well.
also...westciv has a great tut for noobs. And their editor is just as good.
