I know that is really confusing. But what I am trying to say is for each article that ditto puts out I want a tv in the article set what template it will use in the ditto call. Now I am asking two things one is this possible? and two if it is how would I go about doing it?

Sorry for this double post but I figured it out with some flaws. I used a tv to store the chunk used for that news article, then I made a chunk that inlcuded the chunk from the tv and set that as the template. But it is not showing the author or date but the rest of the placeholders are displayed.
any thoughts?
oh and a quick thing i forgot to mention: when I remove the template everything is fine. But when I reapply the template I lose the author and data again.
Are those author/date tvs are assigned to the template you are using on that page? OR add &hiddenTV (I cant recall the ditto parameter right now), its used to assign hidden TVs to the output.
No the author and date are not tvs they are placeholders for the document.
And I tried that and it didn’t work

I used the debug function and found out that it is not even retrieving the author and date information. very strange.
Ok its all fixed now. but with a dirty hack.
it appears that it wasn’t calling the title and date. So I played with it and appearently it needs a "jump start" as if I put the author and date placeholders into the original template it would work. so problem solved for now.
