When I load your site into browser, it first takes me to http://sabf.itba.edu.ar/data_esp/index.php and then redirect to http://sabf.itba.edu.ar/index.php?id=2 huh

Its your web host config issue, nothing with modx AFAIK.

hat’s something with the cache of the server I think. [tt]/index.php[/tt] is the modx file, I think that’s is matter of time to reload that file correctly and the whole redirect will be part of the pass.

The problem is that when I’m in /index.php?id=’whatever’ and change EngineRewrite to on and set Friendly URL in manager I get a 403 in the site.

        Any idea?

I suspect the site is not actually stored at the root of the webserver’s root directory. Ask your host what the webroot is and what your actual install directory is. The .htaccess file needs to be modified accordingly, or you might try to change the line there to where I suspect you’re installed:

          RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /data_esp/index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]

Ryan I created data_esp folder for the old site. As the old index.php redirected all visitor to that folder and seems not to be refreshed by the server I have to create a redirect in data_esp to index.php?id=2 that shows the index.php of my Modx site.

I´m in the root of a subdomain sabf.itba.edu.ar. That could be the problem?

            cheers

Sure could. It depends no how the subdomains are handled in the filesystem. For some sites, subdomains are structured like httpdocs/subdomains/sabf. In that case, I believe your htaccess line would need to be:

               RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /subdomains/sabf/index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]

                My DOCUMENT_ROOT is /var/www/htdocs/vhost/sabf/public_html/

Considering what you said to me I wrote
                RewriteBase /vhost/sabf/public_html/
                RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /vhost/sabf/public_html/index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]

                I also tried
                RewriteBase /sabf/public_html/
                RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /sabf/public_html/index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]

                And
                RewriteBase /public_html/
                RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /public_html/index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]

                Neither option worked. sad

Try getting rid of the rewrite base, and going back to the default:

                  RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]

RewriteBase is not part of the default distribution.

That didn’t work... sorry guys if I’m still bothering with this, but is really frustrating because the sysadmin knows less than me.

And that distant sound is me crashing into the limits of what I know. Time for professionals to take over. :/
