Again, I’ve searched all the documentation I can find, and haven’t been able to determine how to use the Dittl "id parameter, and what it actually does for me.
I found one topic where a user had multiple Ditto calls on a single page, and used unique IDs to keep these instances from overwriting each other’s placeholders (which is something I’ll need in the website I’m working on), but I didn’t catch the mechanics of how this was accomplished.
My impression is this is also supposed to let me link output from an instance of Ditto to become input for an instance of Reflect. but I haven’t really found anything that explains the mechanics of this.
Can anyone give me some hints?
The main purpose for the Ditto ID is to allow URL specific information to be passed to that specific Ditto call. So, since you can’t have more than one ?start= in the url you’d have dittoID_start and dittoID_start where dittoID were unique Ditto ids. This also prevents pagination placeholders from overwriting one another. Thus if you set a Ditto ID and prefix all of the pagination placeholders with it one Ditto call will not overwrite the other.
Yes, except you shouldn’t postfix your Ditto IDs with _ as the snippet will do that automatically.
