For tooltips (field descriptions) found on the Create/Edit Document, Page Settings, Template Variables, and Access Permissions tabs, where are these field descriptions stored? Are they in one file or many separate file? I am a technical writer document our system for the client, and it would be easier to copies these tooltips/descriptions rather than type them all out.

Are you talking about MODX Revolution? If so they are stored in the Lexicon. If you are talking about Evolution they are stored in the language files on the install.

Yes, Revolution. Attached is an example of a tooltip/message I am looking for. There are a lot of lexicon files. Would messages/tooltips for the other fields you see in this image all be in the same file? Any idea which file?

In Revolution, you don’t edit the files. You go to System -> Lexicon Management.

Look under the core namespace, resource topic, page 2.

resource_content_type_help (double click on the the value to edit it).

Any changes you make there will survive upgrades of MODX.

              opublish,

They are but the Lexicon is broken up into Namespace, Topic and Language. Using the filter field will only filter the selections set to the left. The fields you want to change are in the Namespace: core, Topic: resource. You can see the fields in the skitch here: https://skitch.com/jaygilmore/ftbrd/modx-lexicon-management

              Hope this helps.
