This is probably stupid, but I can’t find a definitive answer anywhere on the interwebs. What the @#$% does "PL" stand for in all the version names (i.e. Revo 2.1.3-pl or Formit 2.0.0-pl)? Modx is the only place I have encountered this acronym in versioning (or at all, actually).

I’m just curious, and it’s been driving me crazy. embarrassed

    Thanks!

I have to admit, MODx is the only project i know that is using PL as acronym.

The reason MODX uses pl is because we are using the "PHP-standardized version number strings" found here: http://php.net/manual/en/function.version-compare.php This enables us to do version detection on MODX without having to write our own version detection function. It’s a little unusual and we don’t really need to using it when referring to versions but it makes for an easy reference and a clear distinction between dev, beta, rc and pl.

          Hope that helps.

          Cheers,
