    Hello friends,

I am using MODx Revolution 2.0.6-p and MODX Revolution 2.1.3-pl
I tried adding session_cookie_domain settings to "system settings" it works in 2.1.3.
but when i add it in 2.0.6...It doesnt allow me to login to manager anymore.
Is this happening with you also ? or m i the only one who is facing this ??
If this is common what is the solution...how can i make it work.I tried clearing the cache but no luck sad sad

I’d recommend upgrading the 2.0.6 site. Many bugs have been fixed since that version.

You mean to say its definitely a bug in version 2.0.6 ?? or its just your guess ??
i m asking like this because we have made many customizations in that version and upgrading it to latest version will clear away our customizations and the second thing is that we also want to share sessions and for that we need to set "session_cookie_domain".its like a dead lock.

Session sharing is our priority, so if u know its definitely a version issue then we will move on and upgrade version.

It doesn’t seem to be mentioned specifically in the changelog from 2.1.3 but you really are missing out on a *lot* of fixes. If you broke your upgrade path with customizations I think you’re doing something wrong - would be interesting to see what customization you couldn’t achieve with plugins or other customization options.

Cookies and sessions can be processed differently based on server config so it could also be a server thing.

Sometimes it helps to manually clear the core/cache/ folder.

Make sure you’re setting the cookie domain right, for example .domain.com.

Clear all your (related) cookies, try to login and check back again to see what cookie was set and if anything’s wrong there.

I don’t know that it’s a version issue, but as Mark H. says, there are many other reasons to upgrade and you’ve already established that what you’re trying to do works in 2.1.3.

As for your customizations, if you did not modify the MODX core code, your changes and content will survive an upgrade with no trouble. So will all your snippets, plugins, chunks, TVs, templates, categories, and users.

If you *did* modify the MODX core code (and there’s almost never a reason to do so), it’s just as well to bite the bullet now rather then getting stuck in a version of MODX that will get more and more out of date and has a number of known problems.

            Just my $.02.

@mark : Nice to meet u again grin and yes i have setup domain properly like ".example.com"
i have made it work somewhere else with latest version.

@bob : Yes there are few custom changes in core code, but still we have decided to upgrade the version...There are lot of mods are going on in MODx and if we dont do it today, day will come when we have to upgrade it. There is no point using older version and missing features.

Thanks for your help. will be back after upgrade.

The odds are good that there are ways to implement your mods without changing the core code. Don’t be afraid to ask. Finding another way will make future upgrades much easier.
