I am playing around with the idea of an articles site, and was wondering if any tutorials exist pertaining to using Ditto with articles.
Also, is there any way to interface this with a system like Article Miner (or some similar system)?

Articles are no different than news or catalog or any other pages you want to have a list of summaries and links for. So just use Ditto as any of the tutorials explain. See its parameters to be able to configure it to behave as you wish.
