What does Ditto actually do?

This might seem like an odd question, but what does Ditto actually do? I went to the Resources page on the main modx website looking for a blog I could plug into a modx site. I clicked on "Blogging" in the link cloud at the bottom of the page, and Ditto was the most downloaded, so I’m guessing Ditto is blogging software. However, both here http://modxcms.com/Ditto-487.html and here http://modxcms.com/ditto_documentation.html give little indication of what Ditto actually does! There are long lists of features listed everywhere, but no explanation as to what purpose they all serve. I’m new to ModX, I’ve never used NewsListing before so saying "it’s a new version of NewsListing" doesn’t mean anything to me. So back to my question, what does Ditto do? And may I humbly suggest that the answer also be posted on the two pages I’ve linked to, seeing these are the chief sources of information about Ditto Thanks in advance.

ditto basically repeats/lists content easily. It very flexible so its great for setting up a blog. Check out the parameters in the snippet and you will be up and running in no time.

Use jot for comments.

Ditto fulfills all your aggregation needs - it’s not useful simply as a blogging tool (although it’s very good at it). I, for instance have been using it to create a design portfolio.

Think it could probably do with a better description than:

Ditto: the nimbler, faster, better-named and even more flexible offspring of NewsListing.

though.

I think we should have a competition for the best description of Ditto in 12 words or less. Winner gets their name mentioned in a trivia section on the wiki.
