OK, I’m trying

Overwrite the contents of ditto with the contents of the file snippet.ditto.1.0.1.php
Make sure ditto.class.inc.php gets to assets/snippets/ditto/ditto.class.inc.php
Make sure your language file gets to assets/snippets/ditto/lang/language.inc.php
If you are doing this via the File Manager you will need to create the ditto directory.
Thats it!

My problem is much simpler than this. How the blazes do I show news?
I was playing with NewsListing earlier and have the same problem.

I put the snippet call into a template and get a "No entries found" message. which is definitely where I am having trouble.

How do I add entries ! ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

hehe, definitely a problem on my side but there must be this missing "etomite" connection that I am not making, possibly others too?

You create a folder called news. You note the id of the document you created. Then you call ditto like so [[Ditto?startID=` id of your news folder`]] Thats it!

More than once now folks have asked for simple instructions on how to install this. More than once now you’ve answered "Install and use instructions are in the pdf." Well, I and two other people have obviously read that pdf more than once (for me actually more than a dozen times) and ended up with a mess, which is why we asked the question here. My installation was probably even more confused by the fact that the tutorial Susan wrote, though very step by step, is written for a different snippet entirely, not to mention the fact that I’m trying to use the Replix comment thing. So I’ve ended up with this:

Do you think maybe you should take a second look at those pdf instructions you wrote and maybe maybe think about rewriting them so people can install this? If you need my help to tell you what boneheaded things a noob to this will do so you can put road barriers up around the potholes I’d be happy to.

All the template and chunk docs I used are here, with the exception of the ones that came with the light template used in Susan’s tutorial. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’ve been butting my head against this for most of the day, and my head hurts.

I don’t see how I can explain this any simpler...

1. Create Ditto snippet with code from snippet file
2. Upload assets folder to overwrite the two files.

I surmise kickass needs help with the call syntax and chunk/template structure, not the install.

’til today, I was using Newslisting. I’d like to move to Ditto, but through my tests, it appears that Ditto doesn’t understand the parameter &sortby=`pagetitle`. However, with Newslisting, it work’s fine.

Any idea to help me solve that ?

Look at the documentation. It’s sortBy with capital B.

Oooh sorry, I didn’t notice the use of capitals now with Ditto, oups...
