I have a group of users called ’CDO’ who I want permission to post the NewsPublisher.

Below is how Bob’s Guide explain how to do it, vaguely:

"NewsPublisher responds to the MODx security permission system, so users can only create resources if they have permission to do so. As the admin Super User, you’ll have full rights (unless you’ve done something that takes them away) to create and edit any document in the front end. Other users, however, will have to be granted permission before they can do either and their ability to edit existing resources will depend on the resource group settings.

In addition, users (including you) will not be able to edit resources containing MODx tags without a custom permission: allow_modx_tags, which must be added to the Context Access policy for users in the front end."

Can someone explain, step-by-step, how to give access to a group to post a page through NewsPublisher?

I thought that by setting the "Element Category Access" for the "User Group" for "NewsPublisher" as a "Super User" in a "Web" context would do the trick, but it seems more complex than that.

Okay, finally figure it out by trial and error. These are the sets I took.

      1. Create User Group under Access Controls. (e.g. I used one called "CDOs")
      2. Update the User Group (right-click on the User Group)
      3. Create a Context Access as:
      • Contect: web
      • minimum role:Super User (or create your own)
      • Access policy: custom CDO Policy (based on Administrator template)

As I think you found, Element Category Access is only for access to elements (chunks, snippets, plugins, templates, TVs), so it’s not relevant for NewsPublisher.
