    hi everyone

i need some help, guidance for my problem
i am building a website on which there will be around 100 product pages but these product pages would be available under more related categories

    here is an ex

    Product 1 - Category1: example.com/category1/product01
    Product 1 - Category2: example.com/category2/product01
    .... and so on

In this case same product page would be available on different URL addresses. In order to avoid duplicate issues, we would make use of the canonical tag by deciding which URL would be the canonical version

The question is, what is the best solution in order not to upload product pages separately under each category, if possible, make it dynamic in a way or another.

Of course, we could simplify all this by uploading each product page under a unique directory name (ex. example.com/products/product01,example.com/products/product02 and so on... ). From usability point of view this might cause some confusion especially if we consider the breadcrumb links which would not show the original path as it would jump backward to the /products/ directory when accessing product pages despite the categories the users might have reached the product page

One further remark is that we are not using a webshop, so purchasing of products through the website is not needed.

I hope my question is clear enough and look forward for any useful advice from you.

    Thanx

If you just want to have the product showing up in a few different places in the menu, you can use weblinks to put the product link in different places. If you specifically want each product residing in different places, that may be a little harder. One thing you can perhaps do is create the product page in one place, and then create a different template to use for the other pages that does a few things:

      1. Use one of the MODx fields or a TV to reference the product page ID#
      2. Call Ditto, but have it only return the one document. Populate the Ditto call with the field that is holding the ref to the ID #.

This would make it so you only have to edit the main product information in one place. The issues I see with this is that you may have trouble keeping track of which page has the original content, and you will probably still need to edit the tags you use for any tags that are placed in the head.
