I’m learning MODx Revolution (2.0.3-pl) and have a quick question. Can the system nest resource pages? For example I have one main page (resource) with using a template that sets up the basic design framework css js etc. Then I have another page (resource) and template that would be a section would be with in that page. Like a featured produce that would expire and be replaced at the end of a month with another page that scheduled to be published.

I’ve attached an image that might help.

If someone could point me in the right direction it would help greatly. So far I’m loving MODx.

    Thanks,
    mDave

This thread was for MODx Evolution, but I’m sure it can help. I’ve tested it myself and it works.

You may also simplify things using jQuery to perform your Ajax request.

        Hi,

if that second resource, is like an article, you could try ditto. Give it layout through a chunk and integrate that chunk in the ditto call. Very easy to do.

Thank you for such a quick response. My apologies for posting in the wrong section. I’ll take a look and see if that solves my question.

I’m used to using Omniture where snippits are placed into pages and they can expire on their own. I’m trying to design a Woot type of site and need separate block of code to expire on the page at different times.

Thanks again, I’m a designer by nature but attempting to get a little more technical. smiley

With MODx, you can place your snippet documents. Documents have settings like publication date and unpublication date that you find on the "Page settings" tab. You can easily agregate "child" documents using Ditto like Frank mentioned.
The technique I mentioned in my previous post is more sophisticated. By watching the "onmouseover" and "onclick" events, you can for instance load in your page by Ajax a summary of a child document using its own template and then display more information, with another template, if the link is clicked. I used this for a Wayfinder menu, but the technique can also be used with Ditto and other snippets.

I’m not sure what you mean by "Woot type of site" (woot.com?).
Do you mean some e-commerce site?

Thanks again, I’m a designer by nature but attempting to get a little more technical.
