Everyone who checks out site keeps indicating this a software/ModX initiated issue. About every month Google tells us we have Malware, blocks us, is even threatening our Google Adwords account and this is happening as we’re selling tickets to 2 events. I’d like to understand first, is their malware on our site, second how do we remove it, third how do we stop this from happening all the time (I’ve already deleted all the user names except mine and have reset that password). Please help!

What malware are you infected with? What version of MODx? (please see the block of text in
RED beneath the editing field)
Have you checked the security forums?
http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/board,202.0.html
Looks like Modx version 1.0.2
And we can’t find the malware. What Google said is
Malicious software is hosted on 1 domain(s), including ladymia.cx.cc/.
But we can’t find that and want to make sure site is clean

Hello,
Cleaning up hacked sites is fair amount of work. You should change all of your passwords for starters (database, ftp, control panel, manager), locate the exploit used and correct it, and then upgrade the site to the latest version. You also need to check all the files on the site to make sure no back doors have been left.
If you need help cleaning up the site I am happy to help.
Best of Luck!
Hi have cleaned out the passwords but not sure how to upgrade to most recent version (looks like ours is an old version) - is there an easy way to do that within the CMS and will it not screw up our current page? Thanks

The upgrade process for 1.0.2 > 1.0.5 (Evolution) is direct, unlike upgrading to Revolution which does not have a direct path currently.
