How to add caption for content images?

I’ve been wrestling with good solution for awhile now and can’t just come up with anything user friendly. I think this method: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,28194.0.html is not user friendly.

Has anyone come up with decent solution? Would it be possible to add something to the add/edit image pop up window?

Have you tried with Template Variables?
A TV for the image and one for the Caption.

Thanks for the idea, but how about positioning the image inside the article then (layout)? Articles normally have 2-4 photos and not all the photos are at the end or in the beginning of the article.

Use a javascript library that looks at the alt/title attributes to create the captions.
I use captify for this purpose. Takes some experimentation and practice but you get nicely displayed captions.
