    I was a happy Textpattern user for some years, until it went rather stale.

    I’ve used Drupal, but find it "too much" (also db-load wise) and overwhelming, even though I know pretty well how to use it. Anyway...

    One aspect I really loved about Textpattern, was the Tag Builder in the admin backend. So, when creating a template, I could easily via dropdowns generate a custom list of whatever criteria I wanted.

    For example: Show me all articles by user user "Brian" written in the past, in the section "Love Letters" categorized "Poems", limit to 10 articles, and sort by title.

    It would then out put a tag like this:
    <txp:article_custom author="Brian" category="Poems" section="Love Letters" status="4" time="past" limit="10" />

    Nice and neat, for a guy like me who can’t program PHP. And can’t always remember the attribute names;-)

    Drupal has similar functionality (and more) via the Views module.

    I’m wondering how such stuff (creating custom lists of content) is done in ModX? Would I be left figuring it out in PHP, are there attributes to the content-tag you have, or can it be done with the WayFinder thingy?

    I hope some of you can help enlighten me on what to expect, since this is very important to me when choosing a CMS.

    PS: I currently use WordPress, and as such mangle a bit of PHP, but not much, and I really really miss textpatterns more XML-like templating tags which are prettier and more compact.
