Using a TV as a link / search

Not sure where this would go, but this seemed the best spot.

On a new site I am building I have set up a template variable for an Authors Name. Is it possible to use that TV to create a link to all of the articles by that author? Articles cannot be stored in a folder by author. They need to be in folders by categories.
