    I saw this site: http://cmscrawler.com/completelist. It is a list over CMS used in Europe.
    But MODx is not on this list so I was going to tell the people to include MODx on there crawling and searching.

    So they asked "How can we spot that a site is made with MODx" ?

    So far I know you really can´t because you can use a standard CSS-template and standard HTML code.

    So I ask the community: Do we want to leave a mark - and how do we do that?

    Or has it already been done?

      The best way is really to look for the manager login page, but with Revo even that will fail as people move/rename it.

        The less you identify your sites framework the less vulnerable you are to hacks, not that you have to worry about that with MODx but you can never be too safe.

        Not even built with plugin detects MODx laugh

          ^ exactly.

          MODExt sends the X-Powered-By header along with a MODX value but that’s only with backend AJAX requests.

          Another thought;
          Perhaps it can be recognized be the config.core.php file - it exists and thus gives a 200 OK response, but with an empty result obviously. A quick google didn’t show me other systems that have that file in the webroot. That should always be the case with MODX Revo - the filename is hardcoded all over the place (including in addons).

          Evolution just uses core/config/config.inc.php or something similar, haven’t used that for too long... XD

            I think that’s manager/includes/config.inc.php, but I’m guessing too. wink

              I think your guess is at least more correct than mine! lol.

              Now that you say that, manager/includes/ does sound familiar ^_^
