I’m looking to get more proficient at web design and using modx, does anyone have some book reccommendations that will help me? Preferrably ones I can get at borders or so.

To be honest, I have bought maybe four books in the last several years, and regretted all of them. The biggest problem with dead-tree books (besides questions of quality and accuracy) is that by the time they are published they are at least six months out-of-date. I bought a cheap monochrome laser printer, run it in toner-saver mode (if I were running it on Windows with the Windows drivers I’d even have the ability to print on both sides of the page in even/odd mode), and find more current, interesting, useful articles and tutorials than I have time to go though, on any subject I happen to be working with at the moment.

Borders will be closing their doors shortly, anyway.

One of my main sites for all things development and design related is A List Apart.

Good advice. I’d like to add another recommendation of examining the HTML/CSS code of good, quality sites. You can learn a lot by looking at what others are doing with their code.

2 O’Reilly books that have helped me a lot is
          - PHP in a Nutshell
          - JavaScript: The Definitive Guide (I think I have the 5th edition and there is a 6th now)

"Patterns of Enterprise Application Architecture" by Martin Fowler
was an eye opener big time understanding Revolution.

Can’t wait for Bob Ray in the forums to release his book!
