Preventing one container nav link from showing dropdown children?

I am messing around with Revo trying different things.

I managed to get a multiple horizontal menu system that will show child and grandchild links on hover working.

I then added a blog system following this tutorial: http://rtfm.modx.com/display/revolution20/Creating+a+Blog+in+MODx+Revolution

It works but all there is the basic default CSS. I can fix that later. I have a container Blog page with a few child blog test documents. GetResources is presenting these just fine.

The issue is this: when you mouse over the Blog link in the top navigation all the child blog posts links will drop down. How do I prevent that from happening on the Blog link in the main Wayfinder navigation? I want the drop down system to work with the other nav links that have child or grandchild documents though.

Is this a Wayfinder call thing? A Wayfinder template issue, a CSS issue? Or is there something I can add/adjust to the blog template that was presented in that rtfm Blog tutorial?

My hunch is I need a Wayfinder template that presents unique IDs to the links so that I can order the link not to show its child and grandchild links on hover.

Any thoughts here?

Obviously hitting the Hide From Menus box on each and every Blog child document will prevent them from showing as a dropdown hover link but I am concerned about clients forgetting this every time.

I have never used the $rowIdPrefix and its needed template placeholder to generate custom IDs to the outer row nav links. I could then attach some "hide" css to the Blog container page ID. I will explore that option to see how it works...

That would seem the ideal solution here. I’m still not familiar enough with Revolution to be sure, but could you set ’hide from menus’ by default for your blog document template by using Form Customisation... and then hiding that field so that your clients will never see it? It could be done in Evo with ManagerManager.

your $rowIdPrefix should work - I used $rowIdPrefix=`colorMe` on a recent site - this added id="colorMe6" to each li of the menu (where 6 is the id# of the page the it links to) which I used to color the link tabs and do some other stuff - you could easily use this to target some "hide css" maybe #hide6 ul {display: none; } where 6 would be the id of the Blog

This way you don’t have to figure out how to ensure every post has its hide from menu set - and you might need/want to use that to selectively hide some posts from another menu/list elsewhere - maybe a list/menu of featured posts.
