[solved]&hideSubMenus issue

I am just getting to grips with Revo 2.0.8pl and has an issue with the wayfinder menu I am trying to set up.

I have 6 top level pages showing on the menu and I dont want any of the child pages showing at all so I used &hideSubMenus=`true` which works for all pages except the one that has child pages under it. As soon as I view the page that has the child pages under it on this page only I also see the childpages output by wayfinder.

Can anyone suggest a way to stop this happening

the &hideSubMenus only hides the submenus that are inactive - i.e., if you are on the page that has a submenu, it will be output. Try changing the &level parameter, and set it to 1, this will stop Wayfinder from going beyond the first level, and should accomplish what you want.

Can’t believe it - I’ve just got to the same situation and following the above I’ve now hidden the menu item but it won’t appear on hover now? I’ve got a feeling my Wayfinder call is out of date. Can you paste your call here so I can take a look?

if you use &level=`1` wayfinder will not output the the submenus - hence you will not see them

if you want them to appear on hover then they have to be there! So do not add the &level=`1`, or use &level=`2` ( or whatever)

You hide/show the submenus with css.
Here is a start:

this hides the submenu:
.menu ul ul { display: none; }

this displays the submenu when hovering:
.menu ul li:hover ul { display: block; }

It turned out to be a CSS problem - while copying things over to my Revo test installation I added some ie only CSS to my main style sheet. Having slept on it I spotted it first thing today.

The &level`1` or &level`2` made no difference whatsoever. I’m using the CSSplay example menu for now and it’s looking fine - another Revo box ticked!
