[SOLVED] Can WayFinder do THIS??

Hi -- I’m using Wayfinder 2.0 on Evo 1.0.4 to generate thumbnail navigation on a gallery website. There are two things I’m trying to accomplish that are causing me problems:

1) I use phpthumb throughout the site to control image size, etc. I’d like to use it in the Wayfinder call to produce square thumbnails of images placed using a tv (imageFile). The problem is that the imageFile for the current page is used for all of the documents pulled into the Wayfinder menu. Also, you’ll see in the call below that the phpthumb call is [*tv_Value*] and not [+tv_Value+]. Although I’ve seen the placeholder form several times in documentation, it doesn’t work on my site, for some reason. Not sure if this is relevant and include the note just in case. At any rate, here’s the rowTpl in my Wayfinder call (I don’t have the phpthumb crop filter inserted - just testing for now). Everything works fine when I use the tv placeholder [+imageFile+] and control image size using the height and width attributes, but then I can’t get the square thumbnails I seek:

2) The Wayfinder call has been placed in a page template called the ’imagePage’, which is always a child of the ’subGallery’ template. I need to set this up so that if a site user builds a new gallery, this Wayfinder call automatically uses the parent ’subGallery’ of each specific instance of the ’imagePage’. Is it possible for the Wayfinder call to automatically look at this parent no matter what the subgallery is? In other words, is it possible to make the call without specifying the parent page ID (&startID), but rather "automatically" referring to each imagePage’s parent?

3) I guess the final question is whether Wayfinder is the best solution for this feature. I looked at Ditto but there again, the parent container needs to be specified.

The second statement is the reason for the first one. [tt] [*tv_Value*][/tt] always refers to the page the snippet call is in. Doesn’t it work with [tt][+tv_Value+][/tt] ? (Must say I do not know phpthumb.)

Not sure having understood well. You could use [tt]&startId=`[+parent+]`[/tt] . Or give the [tt]UltimateParent[/tt] snippet a try.

3)
May be for your case Ditto is the better choice. But referencing the parent would be done in the same way like in Wayfinder (just different parameter name).

RE: #1, ok, thanks for that clarification. I don’t know why [+tv_Value+] doesn’t work. I see that usage in documentation for the snippet. I posted about in the general support forum but no one has responded.

RE #2, you’re awesome. I’d forgotten that that was an available tv! Plugged it in as [*parent*] and it works like a charm!

RE: #3, I think if I can figure out the phpthumb thing, this solution will work. It’s OK now, just clunky.

Hi, I can’t understand very well the structure of your website. Can you show us how’s the tree menu (expecially the gallery menu)?
About phpthumbs, if you have problems with the placeholder I can show you another snippet which does the same thing.

The installation is in italian because I didn’t have time to write it in english, but if you are familiar with MODx it should be fairly easy to install.

Thanks -- your snippet works great. Only observation is that I’m not able to make the call uncached, perhaps because it’s nested inside of Wayfinder?? Otherwise, works flawlessly and great options. If you added max width and max height, this would be even more powerful.
