Can't find my way...with Wayfinder

So I’m new...and read that if you use a template, then replace the navigation with Wayfinder, that the CSS styling should just work. I knew better...and here I am.

I managed to use the &rowClass parameter and my menu picked up some css, but the problem is that even though my li elements are floated, they are still stacking vertically, If you look at the CSS, there is some drop down functionality too...but if I can at least get horizontal working, I’ll be a long ways to happy.

I’m positive this is a css issue, but since so many people seem to have similar issues, I thought I would post here.

First of all you should try to correct the errors found by the validator:

Otherwise help is nearly impossible.

Ok...done.

And wouldn’t you know it...I was missing a closing div on my wrapper which was killing my footer format. Thanks already!

Now...back to the menu...I’ve read some posts where people had menu classes with width settings that killed the horizontal layout...but I’m not sure that is my issue. Also once I get the horizontal working, then I’ll want my drop-down to work...but one thing at a time.

I appreciate any help with this!

RESOLVED. I saw the different parameter settings for Wayfinder, but couldn’t quite make out how to use them. Then I read the Almost Complete Guide to Creating Menus in MODx using Wayfinder (shew...long title) found in the post below, and found out I need a menu container, plus use the wf.classes etc etc and it is working now.

If you are new, read this guide...it tells you what is necessary to create a menu. Using the startID only will give you something, but not if you want styling.

Yes, thank you. Lack of attention to detail...always gets me!

That used to be a real problem for me, back when Ditto used &startID instead of &parents, and Wayfinder (DropMenu?) used &startId. I could never remember which one used which!
