Wayfinder isnt outputting friendly urls

Hiya,
I’m a bit of a newbie at modx. I’ve got a site up and running and managed to get wayfinder working. I’ve eventually got friendly urls working on the site - turned them on in the admin and edited .htaccess file. The friendly urls appear to be working as i can type them into the address bar. My problem is that wayfinder is still outputting my pages using the page id’s rather than the friendly urls. I’ve been searching for ages and cant see what i’m doing wrong. I’m using this wayfinder call
[[Wayfinder? &startId=`0` &level=`1`]]

Can anyone help?

Hi,
You probably just need to clear your site cache, or you can un-cache the Wayfinder call by using [!...!] to enclose your call instead of [[....]]

Using uncached Wayfinder snippet tags is not really a very good idea. Building the menu is one of the more time-consuming and resource-intensive tasks when generating a page. There are very few times when the menu needs to be changed where a resource has not also been changed (automatically clearing the cache). Implementing friendly URLs is one of those few times, and it’s much better to just clear the cache manually this one time than to have the menu being re-built with every page request.

That’s a very good point. I have run into a few situations where I’ve had, say, 4 Wayfinder menus on a page, and could not get all of them to work without uncacheing the calls, but maybe they would have ironed themselves out in time.

While doing some heavy research recently I discovered that snippet parameters and configuration items get dumped into the GLOBAL array. Since I learned that, I’ve been a lot more inclined to use external config files, which are simply include files that define the options as ordinary local variables. I’m not sure if it really makes that much difference, but I can’t help but wonder if there might not be times when values might trip over each other in that GLOBAL array.
