using wayfinder to show menu for another document tree

Sorry, I just cant figure this out even after going through the instruction manual. I must be missing something.

I am using (or more precisely, trying out) Revo with Wayfinder for Revo.

Let’s say I have two main tree in my resource structure. One tree start at id=1 and another tree start at id=20. Let me further state that the document id#3 is placed under id=1 tree.

from this document id 3, the first menu


shows the menu as expected


However, this second menu does not show anything.



I expected the Wayfinder to show a list of documents under id 20 but it does not show anything.
Is this the way it supposed to work?

are you calling these both on the same page as It should work how you expect it to, if so try calling them un cached, also what happens if you remove the top one, does the second show ??

removing first menu does not change a thing. I also should have clarified in the first message that reverse is also true.
that is, if I am in document #22 which is under id=20 tree, then the menu to show id=1 tree does not show any item, but the tree belonging to id=20 does show up. So this is somewhat consistent. == Menu items only shows if the displayed document belong to that menu tree==

I will try in another site and see if this issue persist in another install.

Did you try the calls un cached ??

Is shouldnt matter what document you are on, if you call wayfinder and tell it a start id is should show the docs under it even if your not on a doc under the parent

Yes, I did try [[! variety with the same result. At least you confirmed that my pages are not working as it should.

I confirm adachim’s observation:

Menu items only shows if the displayed document belong to that menu tree

(Wayfinder called uncached and even with &hideSubMenus=`false`; Revo 2.0.2, xampp 1.7.3 under Windows 7)

By the Way: To show the submenus, the value of [tt]&hideSubMenus[/tt] has to be [tt]`0`[/tt] - not [tt]`false`[/tt] - if you don’t omit the parameter, then they are shown by default.
You would’t expect that the value [tt]`false`[/tt] works like [tt]`true`[/tt] or [tt]`1`[/tt] - the submenus are hidden.

The parameter [tt]&hideSubMenus[/tt] is causing this behaviour. If you leave it out it works like you want.

I looked up the &hideSubMenus parameter description and realized that this parameter’s action/behavior is more like "hide inactive branches."

Since the whole tree is inactive, none will show. What I have expected was that the first level menu (to me its not submenus) to be displayed.
I suppose I can just replace the parameter with &level set to 1 to achieve what I wanted.
