Hi
I’m not sure if I should have started a new post for this so please accept my apologies. The problem I’m having is that I get a 500 internal server error on eform submission. It works fine on my dev server but not on the production server. I have checked my permissions and they are all correct as they are the same in the dev environment. The form does submit the data to the database however upon clicking submit, I get the 500 error?
I’m not sure what else to do on this that can help resolve the issue. I’ve even tried redoing the site but that still didn’t work. The form did work a few days ago as well but then just decided to stop working BEFORE I made any changes.
Also i’m wondering what the 2 colons mean in this line of code?
<input type="text" name="firstName" value="" eform="firstname::string:0:" />
Also, wondering what the ::’s in this line mean as well?
<input type="text" name="firstName" value="" eform="::0::String" />
Are the 2 colons needed for the eform or will the following suffice?
<input style="width:350px;" type="text" name="firstname" id="firstname" maxlength="32" value="" eform="First Name:string:0:"/>
Modx Version: 1.0.5
eform Version: 1.4.4.6
Thanks

Definitely should be single colons; the only time there would be double colons would be to indicate an empty field in the eform attribute. For example, the type of "string" isn’t really necessary since it’s the default, so you could just have "eform="First Name::0". Select, checkbox and radio types also are auto-detected and don’t need to be specified.
However, I don’t see how that would cause the 500 error, since at worst it would cause the eForm snippet to fail in some way, which it would also do on the dev server. I’m wondering if there is some kind of server security at work here, objecting to the database access?
i’ve been going back and forth with my host provider mediatemple and they keep saying it’s a coding error. they’re absolutely sure it’s not a server error. (of course) i thought the same thing with security permissions however mine are all proper on this end. the only other thing i can possibly think it might be is permissions on their end.
Still not sure what to do about this.

Does eForm work without the extra database insertion function?
Hi guys,
rizla777 - did you end up solving this issue? We're having the same problem.
DB
Hey
oh man i haven't logged into modx in awhile. sorry but yeah i figured out this error.
I've attached a new eform snippet file that you need to install and it will solve your error. I believe I changed sendMail to isMail in this file and it worked. I think it had something to do with MediaTemple upgrading their servers and some settings got switched.

new MT GS servers will give a 500 server error when using eform's email feature.
error is caused by a bad mail method. Root cause unknown
FIX
Replace line 443
$mail->IsMail();
with
$mail->IsSendmail();
