newbie using wayfinder in revo and falling at first hurdle

Hi. I have a site I am porting to revo. I installed the wayfinder snippet 2.1.1 through package management and have not modified anything subsequently.

I have a simple document tree - something like

2
3

My understanding is that, at its simplest, this call
[[WayFinder? &startId=`0`]]
should output an unordered list of the above 6 url, but all I get is a single entry for the home page.

Any suggestions on where I should look to figure out why its not navigating my tree (or not outputting the result).

Thanks Bob - but that’s not it. I get the same result with either - just the home page url - nothing else.

Are you sure the rest of the resources are a) published, and b) set to show in menu?

Thanks Susan - it’s always the simple things that get you. The homepage was the only page with the ’published’ flag set.

To be honest I spent so much time trying to get this to work (duh!) that I ended up installing evo 1.0.4 and copying everything in there. It wasn’t just because of this problem but because of lots of little things I see are not working yet or available in revo that are there (and installed by default on evo).

At first I was convinced that evo was the right choice (it’s for a port of a client site) - but then I saw that my code (just xhtml) was interfered with - presumably to enable the editor - and caused some undesirable layout changes (removal of <br clear="all" /> for example.

It’s great to facilitate easy editing for the client but not if it’s breaking the layout - or am I misunderstanding something here (and apologies for going off the original topic).

MODx does not remove anything; was that code in the template or in a chunk or resource content using TinyMCE? It can be quite zealous in its cleaning up for valid code.

OK - let me explain what I mean:

I have resource content for a page in revolution. I copy it all and paste it into the resource content in evo - with ’editor to use’ set to none. I save it and I get a message along the lines of saved successfully please wait while modx cleans up. I go back in to look at the resource content and it has been cleaned up, with things like
<div class="splash" align="center">
having the align="center" stripped.

Now in a way I don’t mind being prompted to clean up my code - but is there a way to get it to show what changes it has made or is going to make?

What plugins do you have installed and enabled? By itself, MODx doesn’t do anything of the kind.

I think I took the defaults on everything - i.e. I installed all the extra bits and pieces that are offered at install and by default selected, but did not install the sample site.

I think it may well be Tiny MCE that is responsible for this behaviour. If I look at the system configuration it shows enable editor - yes, editor to use - Tiny MCE - again defaults I believe. But when I go in to edit a page resource I turn off Tiny MCE using the control at the bottom of the content pane, so that I can paste in my html without it turning to gobbledegook - but it still cleans up my code without any warning that it is going to do so.

But from my perspective, having never used modx or Tiny MCE, Tiny MCE is just a component of modx, and indeed the message says ’please wait while modx cleans up, so - again from my perspective, modx has cleaned up my code without prior consultation...

Like I say - I’m not necessarily against being prompted to clean up my code but I do object to having it changed without any warning or any notification of what was changed.

Someone that knows what they are doing could no doubt take the appropriate steps to avoid this behaviour - but then surely modx should try to be as friendly as possible to people coming in from outside?

Try unchecking the Rich Text box and saving. After that, your code should be untouched.
