how do I display start item inside of outerTpl (rather than before it)

I need to do a simple one-level menu, displaying all of the child resources of a given resource. I was able to get that working well... but then we decided we wanted to add a link back to the top page (the parent page for the rest of the items in the menu). This menu is horizontal tabs, and we want the first tab to be a ’home’ link basically.

I’m having trouble because when I set &displayStart=’TRUE’ and &startItemTpl, I get the start item link... but the default behavior seems to be to put it outside & before the menu <ul>. That makes sense in most cases, but in my case I want to just make it the first <li> of the menu. Is there a way to do this in Wayfinder?

Yes, it requires thinking about the actual final structure you want, and juggling the various tpls to produce it.

Your beginning outer <ul> tag will be supplied at the beginning of the startItemTpl, and the ending outer </ul> tag by the outerTpl. Play with these, and view the page source to see how it goes.

That’s a good suggestion Susan, I probably would have used it had I thought of it.

Instead what I did was modify the outer template with a hard-coded first li item, with its own separate snippet call to get the start page. Works equally well.
