Hi there,
I have four parents with a number of pages in each. Each parent is a separate department of a company’s website so the parents should not appear in the menu once you have entered in a parent, but only documents for that parent.
I could use separate templates for each parent and set the parents startId in each template. But if my client want to set up a new department later, they must have a new template. In the end there will be a lot of templates...
How do I resolve this, maybee there’s an easy solution. I am no programmer so please explain thoroughly. Anyone who know?

Use a TV for the startId parameter with the default value of @INHERIT. Then just edit that TV for each parent document.
Do I understand this correct. That way my client has to learn to do TVs, if they want to do a new department?
If possible, I want it that way that my client just has to do a parent document and subdocuments and that’s it. But that might not be possible...

To do a new department, simply duplicate an existing one, and edit the new parent and its TV. Edit the new child documents as required.
You could even get them started with two or three duplicates ready to go, just with the parents unpublished.

Depending on your site structure, you may be able to simply use [[UltimateParent]] for the startId parameter.
UltimateParent works like a charm, thank’s a lot!!!!
