Plesk Permissions

I started in MODx about six months ago and was really happy till now I find that it says Forbidden in my site www.astrotrends.net!

All it was is some tweaking in plesk permissoin.

If such a simple thing can bring the whoel site down, there is something really wrong here.

Manager or Assets nut sure where the permission was changed.

Here are two suggestions I would have a permanent topic on:

1- Have a clear instruction in MDOx as to which files and folders need to be R W X not just chmod 770 as some of us dont use ssh.
2- Plesk should have a Save as for permissions that we set so we could go back and restore.

I maybe going back to .NET or just php site but would love to get comments on others who have had difficilty with permissions on MODx.

Of course changing permissions can bring a site down. If you can’t include the files needed (such as the config file and the parser), how do you expect the site to work? All files and folders have to be at least readable, folders executable. Some folders and files, such as the assets/cache folder and its files, the assets/images folder and the assets/files folder have to be writable as well, if you want any snippets like MaxiGallery to be able to upload and otherwise manipulate images. This is certainly nothing unique to MODx.
