jQuery Accordion with Wayfinder shows parentClass when it isn't

I have integrated the jQuery Accordion with a Wayfinder menu and it works fine. The problem I am having is that I have some pages that have subpages. The subpages are set to NOT show in menu and the info is just being pulled via a Ditto call on the enclosing page.

The problem is even though the subs are set to not show, the parent document still displays as an actual parent - eventhough it doesn’t have any visible children.

Thoughts?

It’s the fact that White Papers is a parent, even though the children are hidden.
So the class rel-links2-parent gets added which then triggers the accordion.
I’m having the same dilemma on a site, maybe it can be solved by using the &categoryFoldersTpl and by setting the link attributes field to
rel="category".
