I hope you can help. I’ve been given a website to look at which needs fixing. The current sub-navigation plugin is broken, and is really badly coded, so I’ve done a bit of research and found you can use the Wayfinder plugin.
What we’re ultimately trying to have navigation like this:
Home Page
Page One
Page One Child 1 (For the sake of clearly demonstrating this, we’ll name this page products)
Products page Child 1
Products page Child 2
Products page Child 3
Page One Child 2 (Security)
Security page Child 1
Security page Child 2
etc
So far, we have only been able to find out how to use Wayfinder to display the main parent of one of the Security/Products pages, so if you’re on a security child page, it’ll only show the security navigation, and not the products navigation. Is this possible?
To understand what you are intending:
If you are f.i. on the page Products page Child 2 you would like to see the following submenu:
Products page Child 1
Products page Child 2
Products page Child 3
Right?
It’s on a products child page, we want to see that yes (the main products link at the top with all the child pages beneath it). But we also want the *main* security link to show (not it’s children). Both the Products page, and the Security page both have their own children, but both belong to the same parent. So effectively, we want the subnavigation for the whole parent to show.
So if you’re on the security page (or one of its children), you’d see a link to the main security page with all the security children listed beneath it, and also a link to the main product page. And if you were on the product page (or one of its children), we’d want a sub-nav showing all of the children under the product page, and link to the security page parent. If this doesn’t make any sense I’ll try and make a quick HTML copy of what I’m after, let me know if you want me to do this.
