Excluding some children from Wayfinder

I’ve been scratching my head over this and I’ve reached a bit of a brick wall...

I’m building a menu that shows children when the user is in the section that contains them.

This works fine and is pretty simple to get working.

In one section though, I don’t want the children to show in the menu.

Is there a way of disabling children for a specific section? I don’t want to use excludedocs as the section I want to change is the blog and it will be added to all the time.

Any suggestions?

Short of simply marking those docs to not display in the menu, I can think of a couple ways.

You could have an excludeDoc parameter in your Wayfinder and have it populated by a TV. Usually this TV would be empty, thus not excluding anything. But for that one "root" doc you could stick in the docs to exclude.

You could also set up PHx to this with your Wayfinder call, responding to certain "if" conditions, but that’s a bigger deal.
