Wayfinder a bit too jumpy, how can i speed up the drop down

Hi a lot of users are complaining that the navigation of my site www.insideyork.co.uk is too fiddly. it’s because the drop downs jump around. they take a while to come down when you float over them and if you move the mouse off the bottom before it’s finished appearing it disappears. is there a way i can make menus just appear on float over without the transition. i can’t seem to find the control for speeds/transitions anywhere...

i tried altering this line in my template:

var fx = $(el).effects({duration: 1000, transition: Fx.Transitions.linear});

changing the duration but it didn’t make any difference...

You do realize that all wayfinder does is give you dynamic lists with template tags as you deem fit?

I would suggest you look towards your java script or whatever is ’driving’ your menus. ( I myself use CSS only menus, based mostly on CSSplay.

He has examples which have ’padding’ (for lack of a better word) around one of his menus that allow the mouse to trail x pixels off of the menu before the menu will contract. This is likely something you are looking for, and I believe center’s around the mouse-hover event.

However, if you are indeed using Java or flash, or some other form of dynamic menus, I’m afraid it is up to that particular development platform’s capabilities to allow for such functionality.

Not sure if this could help you since I am still using 0.96. open up drop_down_menu.js which should be located in your templates\whatsoever directory and change currentMenu = new Fx.Style(el, ’height’) to add a third parameter currentMenu = new Fx.Style(el, ’height’,{duration:200});.
Worked for me and it looks much better
