basic problem showing children

Hi,

I’m new to MODx and WAyfinder. I have a project due tomorrow morning.

On the left is a wayfinder driven menu

publications
leadership
legislative action
scholarships
links

what the client wants is this:

awarrds
publications
newsletters
leadership
staff
board of directors
committee chairs
section chairs
legislative action
scholarships
links

But I haven’t been able to get any of the child documents to show up - much less indented

Can anyone help?

Unless you have the documents under those parent/container documents unpublished or set to not show in menu, Wayfinder will generate a simple nested unordered list. All of the items should be showing, and your CSS should have them positioned as you want. What does your Wayfinder call look like?

Looking at your source, why do you have the leftnav div with a classname? An ID would be more appropriate, as there is only one container with such a designation. IDs are for specifying a unique element, while classes are for specifying multiple elements. Also, about all that display:list-item does is to put the list marker in front of the item, which you indicate you don’t want in your list-style-type:none specification.

The source is based on a template the customer selected, the call is as follows:

[[Wayfinder? &startId=`0` &level=`1`]]

Any ideas? - there is a child document under ’publications’ that won’t show up...

It’s doing exactly what you’ve told it to do. Try &level=`2` if you want two levels, the first level documents and the children of the first level documents.

I guess the next trick is finding where in the CSS controlls the children so I can indtent them a few pixels....?
