I am in the process of writing a new multilingual module for modx that I hope to release to the modx community in the not too distant future and which avoids the need for managing multiple document trees. It’s about 90% complete. I have already got it to work seamlessly with ditto by using a custom extender. Now I’d like to do the same with wayfinder. I’d like to be able to either a) supply a template for textOfLinks and titleOfLinks fields rather than let them be the output of a single document variable, or b) to let the textOfLinks and titleOfLinks output be specified by the result of a snippet/php function that is passed (at a minimum) the id of the page as a parameter. I don’t want to make the user have to edit all their existing templates to use the multilingual module if at all possible.
Is there a way of achieving this with wayfinder as it stands, or would it be possible to extend it to do so?

I’ve (temporarily?) overcome this problem by creating alternative versions of the default wayfinder templates that work with my multilingual module and which can be linked to easily using @FILE.
