show specific submenu item with its document when clicked on main menu item

I’m new to modX and - it’s sexy....
it’s so flexible I can do all I want; only one task I can not figure out, if it is possible at all:
I want to directly show one submenu item with its document when I click on a main menu item. That is, not to show something like an "overview page" over the submenu, but directly a document in the submenu.

Example:

Food
meat
vegetables
cakes
Beverages
beer
whisky
soft drinks
cocktails

clicking "beverages" should open the submenu item "whisky" and the whisky document directly.

Look at the Wayfinder snippet. There is a parameter which escapes me at the moment, but a quick review of the documentation will reveal that. To learn more about MODx in general and Wayfinder see http://modxcms.com/learn/it.html (look for the Wayfinder eBook in the right column)

Thanx for your early answer ;-) I have been studying kandango’s wonderfull guide to wayfinder - but I couldn’t find a solution for the task

where do I have to put this snippet?

Put [!FirstChildRedirect!] in the content of the parent page.
It should then redirect to the first child page
