active class not showing... maybe a CSS hicup?

I’m stuck with one of those simple, or plain stupid, things. Monday syndrome, I guess

So I can get my WF menu to show the ’active’....

This is my style (it’s just a stylesheet, no placeholders, chunks etc)

.navbox ul li .active  {
	color: #FF0000;
	text-decoration: none;
	background:  url(../images/naranja.png) no-repeat;
}

The menu behaviour is as so:

.navbox ul li a:link, .navbox a:visited {
	display:block;
	color: #FFF;
	text-decoration: none;
	padding-left: 28px;
	padding-bottom:20px;
 background: url(../images/bullit.png) no-repeat;
}

.navbox ul li a:hover {
	color: #FFF;
	text-decoration: none;
	background:  url(../images/laranja.png) no-repeat;
}

Oh boy, am I feeling stuuuuuuuuuuupid...

It’s the CSS, of course... (which I really know nothing about )

So if anyone ever types the element’s class with a space between them you’re bound to embarrass yourself in great way.

.navbox ul li.active

NOT
.navbox ul li .active
