SOLVED: weird lines over menu items in safari

I’m working on a site and I tested it in safari and I’m noticing some really strange lines over my menu items. you can view what I mean here. http://www.lindseybehrends.com/modx
you won’t see it unless you view in safari, at least i don’t see it in FF3. I can’t figure out what this is for the life of me. The only thing I can think of is that it’s something to do with wayfinder and not my actual code. Maybe my css is somehow doing that to the wayfinder code? I have no clue.
I changed my css to move the menu div and the lines move with it. I also noticed i can see them load on the page before anything else loads. And they are definitely not part of the image...they don’t show up anywhere else.

Anyone seen this before?

well problem solved.

very strange indeed.

So basically even though in my CSS I had my menu link font-size set to 0px it was still showing up. Yep, those little lines were actually text links. After much tinkering thinking it was borders or text decorations i finally threw in text align left and color black and sure enough the line moved to the left and turned black. so i ended up just setting color to transparent and they’ve all disappeared.

i’ve never seen anything like this before and strangely could not find anything from a google search. you would think this has happened to other people that replace their text links with images....unless i’m doing something very different.

strange. it must be a mac thing. i’m running safari 3.2.1 on a mac and also had two other mac users verify that they could see it. The lines are teeny tiny and appearing centered above the links. right at the edge of the image. they vary in size too which is even more strange.

Can you try turning off the background graphic to see if there is more of the mystery content that is appearing at the top of the menu bar? The color of these "lines" seems the same as your body links which makes me believe this is some 99% hidden text or some image link border that is displaying?

This is an odd one for sure!

I bet that is not supposed to be there?

I would also validate your code: you are getting 12 errors, all of which are in your menu...

I ran a validator and got 12 errors but none of them were in my menu. ?? I’m not sure what you saw. I fixed some errors in my head section and the rest of them are errors generated from maxigallery using shadowbox so there’s not much I can do there.
