Anyone had any success using wayfinder with a css or javascript ’curved box’ such as Ryan’s

I can generate the boxes and they work with text, or for that matter the sitemap snippet but wayfinder menu ’breaks’ out.
Ideally would like to use the ruzee semi-transparent borders or Ryan’s.
Suggestions, thoughts, accepting I can ’just’ add an height declaration, but that does rather defeat the object, especially since the vertical menu changes number of options and other areas include text, which is longer.
