Absolute URLS instead of relative ones

I was referring to hide parent folders in order to not output all levels etc. So In the folder tree (which startID I call) - I click "create weblink here" and link the document or folder. This had probably nothing to do with happyavocado’s problem...

Hi guys

Thanks for all your responses

I’m having a bit of a nightmare as I can’t try out any of the suggestions because a few "odd" things have happened this eve:

1). When I add a child to a parent, the parent page when loaded loses it’s html suffix and instead of the page loading properly, I get an error message: « MODx Parse Error »
2). My suffix’s are set to be .html under "suffix for friendly URLs" in tools >configuration, but is not happening on all of my pages (only on those that don’t have children)

This is all very confusing! Am I doing something obviously wrong here?

There was only one page returning a parse error and so I deleted it, so not sure what it said. I still have the problem - as soon as I add a child to a parent the parent seems to lose its .html suffix.

It’s totally driving me nuts now!

Should I download MODx and start again? It almost seems like some sort of bug.

Anyone?

U have the <base href="[(site_url)]"></base> or <base href="[(site_url)]" /> set?

---> "When using friendly alias paths, some snippets may not work correctly and you may have problems getting your css file or images included correctly. This happens because in the url, it looks like you are in for example /Blog/Cars/ folder and the web browser tries to search the resources that actually reside in site root from there. To fix this, you need to put [(base_url)] before the paths in your links and snippet developers should allways use $modx->config[’base_url’] when building links manually. This is not needed when linking in to MODx documents using [~ID~] or in snippets, using MODx api (makeURL)"

I really really don’t understand. I added <base href="http://www.mysite.com/" /> to the <head> section - nothing has happened and I am still getting parents who are "losing" their .html suffix.

Please can someone elaborate a little on this.

Yes, that’s what he’s saying, like this: <base href="[(site_url)]"></base> This is a special modx tag. I suggest you read the links given above thoroughly.

Just a quick note; this is the proper form to avoid some serious Javascript issues in IE6:

<base href="[(site_url)]"></base>

For some reason, the short tag version causes problems with many popular Javascript libraries and tools.
