Top/left navigation

I’m trying to create a navigation as follows:

First level of the navigation should be on top of the page as a bar. Second and third levels should be on the left side of the page. The problem I’m having is that I can’t seem to find a way to strip the first level of navigation from the left-side navigation bar. How can this be done?

You need to set the &startId of the sidebar menu to the parent id (or use the parent document variable [*parent*]).

I knew about the &startId (I read the wiki). Unfortunately *parent* doesn’t go far enough. On third level of navigation it only displays the third level. I will also need to see the second.

OK, in that case you need to use the UltimateParent snippet (should be installed by default).



Note that the snippets have alternating cache settings [[ [! !] ]] this is important.

I got it to work like this:

[!Wayfinder?&startId=`[[UltimateParent? &top=`823`]]`&hideSubMenus=`1`!]

823 is actually the id of the first level of navigation (the bar on top of the screen). If I try to use the id of the second navigation level here, I get the same result as with [*parent*]. I’m a bit confused as to why this happens, but hey, as long as it works... Thanks!
