Hello My name is John Wienke. I have been working as a front end web designer for about a year now. I recently learned the basics of php to offer my clients a more dynamic site without having to copy and paste other peoples code all the time. lol Unfortunately coding each site in php has proven to be very time consuming. So I decided to learn a CMS to speed things up a bit. I have tried WordPress, Joomla, and Drupal so far and have found them all to be very restrictive as a designer. What I mean is to get your site to work and look like you want you have to do almost as much coding as you would if you were going to code it from scratch. I just recently found out about MODX, and I cant begin to describe how happy I am with it. It is like the perfect CMS I can now easily, and quickly convert any web design into a MODX site without any time consuming roadblocks. grin I cant believe this is free. There doesn’t seem to be many tutorials about MODX out there though maybe I will have to write some I have been documenting everything I have been learning about it. Anyway I just wanted to introduce myself to the community, and let everyone know that has contributed to the development of this incredible piece of software how impressed, and happy I am with all of your hard work.

Well thank you allanb, Jay, and benmarte for the warm welcome. smiley Thanks Jay for all the useful information. Local meetups sound like a great idea having a chance to meet, and talk with others in the same field face to face doesn’t happen very much in the web development seen outside of a structured class you know. Also thanks benmarte for the tutorial links. I have so far just been using the MODX official documentation to learn but sometimes it is nice to read other peoples tutorials, and books especially since there seems to be many different techniques you can use to accomplish the same results with MODX. grin I really love this software.
