Can't get Submenu to display

    I can get the main menu to display and highlight perfectly when an item is selected. This is how the main menu looks like in the template section:

    <div id="main">
 [[Wayfinder? &startId=`0`&limit=`5`&hereClass=`menu_active`&innerClass=`subnav`]]
</div>


    This would be the submenu:

    <div id="sub">

    // what do I put here in order for submenu items to display for the current main menu item selected? I tried using &level, but I just couldn’t get anything to appear.

    </div>

    Any help is appreciated, thanks!

      Which main menu? Do you have it working as a static html/css menu prototype now? If not, that’s step 1.

        Hi Ryan,

        Sorry about that. I tried to remove the other one since I then noticed there was one dedicated to wayfinder, but it wouldn’t let me...so I just linked it to the new one.

        I am using the main menu just like this in the template section:

        <div id="main">
 [[Wayfinder? &startId=`0`&limit=`5`&hereClass=`menu_active`&innerClass=`subnav`]]
</div>


        And it displays like this:

        menu1, menu2, menu3, menu4, menu5

        And when you click on any of the menu items it uses the css class "menu_active" to highlight the selected one.

        In the manager I added a document under "menu1" called sub1.

        I want to be able to display the submenu items within here:

        <div id="sub">
display submenu items
</div>


        How can I display a submenu item?

          There are some great examples of menus provided with the snippet itself in the assets/snippets/wayfinder/examples/ directory. You might start looking there, and checking out the wiki and Kyle’s site for more info.

            Hi Ryan,

            Thanks, but I had already taken a look at that, but I will look again. I am not looking for any drop downs, show submenu on hover or any of the examples that are shown. The main menu is basically a horizontal menu, and I wanted the submenu to be just like it, but below it. So if there are any submenu items then they will be displayed. I appreciate the help.

              You mean what they call a "dropline", like the main menu in the Manager? That’s my favorite. If that’s the case, check out the Aqueous Light template

                You’ll need to have the markup and CSS working before you can get Wayfinder to output the correct code.

                  Thank you Susan and Ryan for the help so far. I tried the Aqueous template and its a lot closer to what I am looking for. The submenu only appears when you hover over a menu item that has subs.

                  I wanted the submenu block to appear even if there isn’t any subs for the current menu item. So in the CSS, I commented out "display:none;" so it is always displayed. It works, but it only displays the subs for one menu item.

                  I did see another posting on this forum that I haven’t been able to find again. It had a link to the site that uses wayfinder. I had tried it, but it didn’t work for me. Its just what I need, but instead of vertical, its horizontal like the aqueous template. Here is the link: http://hovie.com/

                  Is there something else that would need to be changed besides the CSS?
