I spent a lot of time searching the forum for a solution to my client’s menu needs. There were lots of helpful hints but no thread that I found that matched what my client was asking for. What was needed was a parent menu item as a placeholder, folder, (insert name here) for the child menu items that contained content.
My searches lead me to "&parentRowTpl" in the documentation. This little gem was the answer! The site currently uses the Mollio Menu Type B which was originally ported to MODx using the deprecated DropMenu. My first step was to use the instructions provided with Wayfinder to convert the use of DropMenu to Wayfinder for Mollio. Then I created a new chunk named "wfParent" that started with the following example code from

I changed this code to:

That was all I needed! I reworked the anchor tag from "href" to "name" type, see
http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_links.asp. All I had to do was include the new template chunk parameter "&parentRowTpl=`wfParent`" in the Wayfinder call:
