Modxcms.com website front page, how did they do the menu?

Hi All, I’m a front end designer just getting into backend coding stuff, so please excuse if I sound a little dense with some terminologies

Anyway, question: Could someone explain (ideally with example) how the "foldout" effect of the main modx website menu was created? Was it done via snippet or chunk or Wayfinder?

An old customized version of DropMenu ... Use Wayfinder now with the the param that only shows the active tree.

Is there a parameter to do that? I looked at the list of parameters on Muddydogpaws ( http://www.muddydogpaws.com/development/wayfinder/parameters.html ) and couldn’t see one. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

ok, so in MODX things are referred to as "main menus" and "submenus" are they? I assumed based off other CMS’s they might be called "Parent" and "Child" menus so that’s what I was looking for in the text. Many Thanks sottwell

There’s honestly no hard and fast rules about menus, or for that matter MODx in general. Wayfinder is only one solution for creating menus and happens to use the submenu nomenclature. MODx is incredibly flexible and there’s typically more than one way to achieve the same end goal. While it’s likely quite frustrating at first, or maybe even intimidating, it leads to a lot of freedom once it all clicks.

(BTW, I think "child/parent" is a better and much more accurate way to refer to it, too.)
