confused newbie

I’m struggling to understand how all the wayfinder pieces fit together and when/where they’re used. I’ve been through the documentation describing the parameters, chunks, etc. But I’m not seeing the big picture.

I’ve been able to create a single level menu using wayfinder and I’ve been able to use my own CSS style sheets to format orientation, color, hover, etc.

Now I want to create a mutli-level flyout menu in my MODx template. I’ve created these in Dreamweaver using the Spry menus. I understand how to manipulate the ul li elements and to apply my own CSS. But I don’t see how to do this using wayfinder. I don’t know how the parameters are applied, how the flyout behavior is controlled, etc.

I’ve been through forums also, most entires are usually about some specific area and the solution usually points to some parameter, But I don’t understand how parameter and chunks are used, where they go, when they’re needed.

Can someone help me with this?

By itself, Wayfinder will generate a basic nested unordered list with certain classnames. You can use snippet parameters to change or add classnames.

There are quite a number of examples and config files included with the latest Wayfinder download. That may be the best way to learn how to use it.
